About Us

Creative Edge Center for the Arts was created by husband and wife team of Peter & Tracy Kelsey both graduates of The University of the Arts in Philadelphia. There combined love for the Arts and the need for a quality arts school in the North Wales area drove them to open the doors in September of 2016. Creative Edge Center of the Arts is a performing arts school, with a focus on quality industry training in dance, theater, vocals, instrumentals, visual arts and production.  Our goal is to prepare our students for careers or secondary education in the arts. We strive on small class sizes, one-on-one instruction, innovation, and creativity.  Our school offers group or private lessons. Our Center has its own unique 1200 square foot performance space, which seats 120 people.  We offer free trial classes for anyone interested. Contact us today!


                                               PETER KELSEY 
                                                          CO-OWNER / PRODUCTION MANAGER
                                                          BFA Illustration, & MA Art Education

                                                 Peter is a teacher at Central High School in
                                                 Philadelphia, where he teaches art and works with
                                                 the Musical Theater program designing and building
                                                 sets with the students and teaching lighting design
                                                 and audio engineering. In the past he was Technical
                                                 Director and Lighting Designer at  Plymouth
                                                  Whitemarsh High School's Colonial Players theater                                                     programs. In the last 12 years Peter has worked with or designed over 50 productions. Peter loves working with the kids at CECA and looks forward to running workshops in Production Design and  Technical Production for local kids. 

                                               TRACY KELSEY
                                                           OWNER / CREATIVE DIRECTOR
                                                   BFA Jazz Dance Performance

                                                   With over 15 years of teaching experience, Tracy Kelsey                                                     is the owner and creative director at Creative Edge                                                               Center for the Arts. Tracy received her B.F.A. from the                                                         University of the Arts in jazz dance performance.                                                                   During her time at UArts, she took a semester abroad                                                         to study at the Laban Center in London where she                                                               studied various styles of modern dance and choreological studies. Tracy continues to be a student in the dance world and most recently recertified in the Vaganova Ballet Syllabus with John White.

Tracy has taught dance throughout the tri-state area at various studios as a full time faculty member and guest artist. She has choreographed and performed with Zakarak Production Company for several years working on industrial shows at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia and the Nokia Theater, Hammerstein Ballroom, and Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Tracy has had the pleasure of presenting her work as an independent choreographer in many local dance showcases including the Philadelphia Fringe Festival and Convergence. Most recently, Tracy was the choreographer for the Central High School production of “Guys and Dolls.”

Tracy’s role at CECA spans far and wide; owner, director, teacher, and choreographer are just a few of her responsibilities. After over fifteen years of teaching and performing, Tracy is excited to have Creative Edge Center for the Arts as her home. It has been a lifelong dream to have a school where she can instill her love of dance to future artists.  All dancers have a voice and Tracy works hard to inspire these young dancers to not be afraid to find theirs.
                                               Mary Guarnieri 
                                                          Theater Instructor
                                                          BFA Theater
​                                                  Mary Guarnieri graduated Suma Cum Laude from                                                          Temple University with duel concentrations in Acting                                                    and Musical Theater and a Minor in Dance. She has                                                        performed across various stages in Philadelphia,                                                              including the Walnut Street Theater and the Media                                                        Theater, with some of her favorite credits including                                                        Athena in "The Odyssey," Erma in "Anything Goes,"                                                         Laurey in "Oklahoma," and ESPN's "After Further Review" (Television Program). Before discovering theater Mary spent a short time Performing at The Academy of Music in the Pennsylvania Ballet's "Sleeping Beauty," "Midsummer Night's Dream," and "The Nutcracker." Mary also currently works at Central High School of Philadelphia as their Theatre and Musical Theatre director. Her favorite thing about teaching theatre is watching young artists evolve and improve. She believes that theatre should be a safe space for all ages and levels and strives to foster a fun and creative environment while also focusing on establishing a strong technical foundation. Mary also holds her Yoga Certification from Rishikesh, India and enjoys teaching vinyasa flow and meditation. 
                                                 SARAH MAYER
                                                             DANCE INSTRUCTOR 
                                                             BFA Dance  
                                                              Sarah Mayer is a performer, choreographer, and
                                                    dance educator in the Philadelphia area. Originally
                                                    from southeastern Connecticut, she grew up                                                                      performing and competing across the country while                                                      staying active in local musical theater productions.                                                          Sarah moved to Philadelphia where she earned her                                                        BFA in dance choreography and performance from                                                         Temple University. 
She also studied dance/movement therapy at Drexel University and worked with various populations including pediatric cancer patients, children with cerebral palsy, and breast cancer survivors. Sarah has performed with numerous Philadelphia area dance companies and independent choreographers. She has trained and performed as an aerialist and has coached teen aerialists in basic dance and movement skills. Sarah also works as the head strength coach and personal trainer at Bair Knuckle Strength in Fort Washington, PA. She is a certified Functional Movement Specialist (FMS) and helps clients build strength and get out of pain in a fun and safe environment. 
Sarah is thrilled to be apart of the CECA faculty where a true love for the arts is cultivated within the training programs. 
                                              THERESA SMITH 
                                                          VOCAL INSTRUCTOR / PIANO TEACHER
                                                         BFM Music Industry
                                                 A graduate of Syracuse University, she received her                                                       Bachelor’s of Music in Music Industry and a minor in                                                     acting. Her concentration was voice, of which she                                                           studied privately for 10 years with various teachers.                                                     She was also a student conducting intern with the                                                           world-renowned Syracuse Children’s Choir under                                                         the direction of Dr. Barbara Tagg.  After graduation,                                                       she moved to the area where she worked with On Stage & Off, Inc/Theatre & Kids of Lansdale from 2009-2015 as the music director of many shows, their summer theater camps, and Saturday Morning Arts Academy. She was also the co-director and director of their award winning Cantabile Children’s Choir and Kaleidoscope Show Choir. From 2013-2016 she directed, music directed, and choreographed Pennridge South Middle School’s productions of Mulan Jr., Once Upon A Mattress, and Annie Jr. She has been teaching voice students throughout Bucks and Montgomery counties since 2010 and became the founder and director of Smith Vocal Arts, which not only provides private voice lessons, but includes two show choirs for 6-12th graders. Both show choirs (“Treblemakers” and “Riff Raff”) perform throughout the area with a variety of music, including Halloween and holiday repertoire, a cappella arrangements, pop songs, oldies, and Broadway show tunes.  Theresa works hard at providing a friendly and effective teaching environment to help ensure proper technique and healthy growth, while also building any singer’s confidence.  We are thrilled to have her as our Music Director!


                                               TARA HARVEY
                                                           MA Music &  BFM Music Ed. 

                                            Tara Harvey is a freelance oboist in the
                                            Philadelphia area.  She earned a Bachelor of
                                            Music Education from Indiana University
                                            and a Master of Music in Oboe Performance
                                            from McGill University. Her primary teacher
                                            was Theodore Baskin (Principal Oboe,
                                            Montreal Symphony). Mrs. Harvey performs
regularly with Vox Ama Deus and other area ensembles.  Tara has been teaching private lessons for 15 years and is also on faculty at University of Valley Forge and Eastern University.  She has guided several students to achieve status in select ensembles including District, Regional, All-State and Philadelphia’s top youth orchestras. She is delighted that many of her students have continued to play their instrument in college ensembles and beyond.  Her goal is to ignite a joy for music that will last a lifetime. Chamber music has always been a passion of Tara’s and she is excited for the opportunity to teach and coach groups at Creative Edge. Tara lives in North Wales with her husband and four children.
